As Associate Director of Teaching and Learning at the CAT, Dana is responsible for providing leadership and expertise to grow evidence-based teaching and curricular practices that lead to deep learning. She manages CAT's Teaching in Higher Education Certificates. Dana believes that college instructors have a powerful and lasting impact on students’ intellectual and socio-emotional development. Finding strategies that meet students’ needs and optimize a particular instructor’s individual strengths and style of engaging with students requires on-going reflection and investigation of best practices for promoting student learning.

Dana has been at Temple since 2007 and has over twenty years of experience with teaching, curriculum development and assessment, student advising and program administration in higher education. She comes to the CAT from her role as Associate Director for General Education, where she oversaw program-wide assessment of curriculum goals, managed the course recertification process, supported faculty in developing new courses and collaborated with offices including the CAT and Temple Libraries to create faculty development workshops and resources for GenEd instructors. She has presented and published nationally and internationally on topics including active learning strategies, assessing student learning, and environmental factors that impact learning and retention. Dana holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada), an MA in Social and Political Thought from York University (Toronto, Canada), and just recently received her PhD in Social and Political Thought at York University.
