As Senior Director of the CAT, Dana advocates for evidence-based instructional practices that support learning and success for all of Temple's students. She leads the CAT's team of dedicated professionals and designs and delivers programming on topics ranging from working with individual students to creating effective classroom environments and designing courses and curricula. She offers individual consultations with faculty and departmental leadership, and contributes to university-wide initiatives on best practices for teaching and learning in higher education.

Dana believes college instructors have a powerful and lasting impact on students' intellectual and socio-emotional development. Helping instructors find the right strategies means meeting students where they are while drawing on each instructor's unique strengths and teaching style. This work requires ongoing reflection and investigation into what actually helps students learn.

Dana has been at Temple since 2007 and has more than twenty years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and assessment, student advising, and program administration in higher education. Prior to joining the CAT, she was Associate Director of Temple's General Education Program, where she oversaw program-wide assessment of curriculum goals, managed the course recertification process, supported faculty in developing new courses, and collaborated with offices including the CAT and Temple Libraries to create faculty development workshops and resources for GenEd instructors. She has presented and published nationally and internationally on topics including active learning strategies, assessing student learning, and environmental factors that impact learning and retention. Dana holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada) and an MA and PhD in Social and Political Thought from York University (Toronto, Canada).
