EdTech Student Partners Program

What is the EdTech Student Partners Program?

The EdTech Student Partners is a program comprised of high achieving technically-savy students who are trained and work under the supervision of a Center for the Advancement of Teaching (CAT) faculty developer to help you with the identification and use of technology in your face-to-face and online class from the student perspective.

Beside helping you with the use of technology in your class, your EdTech Student Partner will connect you with a CAT Faculty Developer for professional development and learning opportunities, resources for course development, assessment for the redesign of an existing course, or advice on how best teaching practices can be implemented in your course.

The program is open to interested faculty and teaching assistants for the fall and spring semesters only.

Application for the Fall 2017 EdTech Student Partner's Program

Application for the fall 2017 program is open.  Please apply to collaborate with an EdTech Student Partner for the fall semester no later than July 10, 2017.

What can an EdTech Student Partner do for me?

An EdTech Student Partner will work with you to match the right technology to your teaching goals, offer one-on-one help on effectively implementing technology into your course, and help you learn more about the student perspective on teaching with technology.  In addition, your Partner will connect you with a CAT faculty developer if you are seeking professional development opportunities or if you need advice on how to implement best teaching practices in your classes.  Our Partners will meet you in your office or at the Instructional Technology Lab located in Room 110 at the Tech Center.

Our EdTech Student Partners will assist you with a variety of topics such as:

  • using social media
  • identifying and implementing LMS (Blackboard or Canvas)  features to manage your course and inspire student engagement
  • adding mobile applications into your class
  • setting up online office hours
  • identifying and using tools to record online lectures
  • researching the technology tools to implement in your class
  • implementing your ideas
  • connecting you with a faculty developer for professional and course development resources
  • and much more!
What tasks and activities are not supported by an EDTech Student Partner?

EdTech Student Partners will not perform the following tasks:

  • Tasks normally done by departmental technology support staff and classroom technology support staff.
  • Software and hardware installations
  • Hardware repairs
