A key cognitive learning goal is the ability to recognize and apply the concept of structural racism to analyses of social inequality and to lived experience. But how to do this effectively and productively? Dr. Barnett will lead participants in exploring strategies for building trust and negotiating conflict when teaching about Race. “As a teacher of race, I aspire for this affective development to influence students to recognize commonality with, feel empathy for, and collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds” (Barnett, 2019)
