Adults as Learners: Examining the Relevance of Adult Learning Theories to Teaching in Higher Education

Tracing the evolution of adult theories from andragogy to transformational learning and critical pedagogies, this workshop critically examines principles of adult learning and embedded assumptions about the roles and behaviors of adults as learners. We will explore how the theories frame the characteristics of learners and relationships between teachers and learners. Participants will consider the relevance and implications of these theories to designing learning activities in their specific teaching contexts.

This 3-part workshop will be held in-person on the following dates:
