From “Under-Prepared” to “At-Promise”: Supporting Students in their Quest to Become Diamonds

March 15, 2023 - 3:00pm to 4:30pm
TECH Center, Room 109

How many times have we said or thought that our students are not ready for our classes? That they are academically, professionally, or socially unprepared?

The Faculty Learning Community on Under-Prepared Students has studied the literature on the definitions, causes, and possible solutions to the varied issues that can lead to students’ struggle to thrive at Temple University. We look forward to sharing our conversations with the Temple community at large regarding ways to ease frustrations among both faculty and students and improve the bottom line: education and retention. From the perspective of a simple but profound change in terminology, in this round-table panel discussion of the issues we look to provide the Temple community with tools to better understand and help our most vulnerable students in their quest to become Diamonds.
