Teaching Online Short Course for Faculty

If this is the first time you are designing and delivering a course from scratch completely online, you should be arming yourself with the information you'll need to create rich learning experiences for your students. The CAT is offering a short course on online learning which will assist you in developing better practices for online teaching. Completing this cycle of workshops (via Zoom) will provide the support you need to create a course that works online!

How to Complete the Short-Course:

Step 1: Let us know that you intend to complete the short course.

Step 2: Register for and attend the following workshops (via Zoom):

  • Introduction to Online Course Design
  • More Than a Feeling: Creating Community in Your Online Course
  • Collaborative Learning in the Online Space  -OR-  Discussions Online
  • Getting the Most Out of Zoom  -OR-  Delivering Lectures Online
  • Assessing Student Learning Online: Exams and Quizzes  -OR-  Assessment That Works in Online Courses

The list above is not a sequence. Participants are free to take the courses in any order that is convenient for them.

Note: Only the CAT workshops listed above are included in the Short Course cycle. While we offer a variety of programming that can assist you with teaching online, only the aforementioned workshops count toward completion of the course.

Faculty who complete the short course by registering for and attending these workshops (via Zoom) will receive a letter from the CAT certifying their completion of the short course. Faculty who have already attended one of these workshops during Spring 2020 will receive credit for their attendance retroactively.

Please note that faculty who must complete the short course in time for the fall semester must do so by Friday, August 21 as our short course offerings in preparation for fall will end on this date.
