The Center for the Advancement of Teaching is delighted to announce this year’s program.
Date: Wednesday, August 19, 2020
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Location: Online via Zoom
This orientation will prepare you to be an excellent teaching assistant at Temple University. At the general sessions, you will learn who Temple students are as well as what resources are available to support them. Your teaching concerns will be addressed through group discussions for navigating challenging classroom situations. Topical breakout sessions will focus on various aspects of teaching, such as motivating and engaging students, facilitating discussions, grading effectively, and leading lab and supplemental sessions. All sessions will include how these teaching practices can be implemented in the online classroom.
All new TAs (0-1 semester) are required to participate as this orientation is mandatory.
After our orientation, you have two OPTIONAL teaching with technology sessions available to help you use Zoom and Canvas more effectively in your teaching. We highly encourage you to take these sessions.
